Heery Woods State Park is split into a northside and southside by the Shell Rock River. There is 1.25 miles of paved multiuse trail and a variety of different soft trails that provide extraordinary views of the Shell Rock River.
These off road trails are used for biking, hiking, running, skiing and wildlife viewing throughout Heery Woods State Park. The northside of Heery Woods State Park includes two open shelter houses, a primitive restroom, camping facilities, a playground, flush toilets, hiking and biking trails, and shower house. The south side of the park includes an enclosed shelter house/lodge and primitive restrooms both constructed of hand cut limestone. The south side also contains bathrooms, a grill shelter, and the Allan and Fayette Meyer Nature Center.
