The Cedar Valley Lakes Trail along Gateway Park and the Cedar River will be closed starting September 11, 2023 for up to one year for the construction of the Cedar River Recreational Project. Follow detour signs to bypass this area.

The Park Avenue Bike Lanes are used by bicycles to cross the Cedar River in Downtown Waterloo. These bike lanes take you to several outdoor entertainment venues.

On the East end of the trail is Lincoln Park and on the West side of the Cedar River is the RiverLoop Amphitheatre & Expo Plaza.

There is also Washington Park, and the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum & Grout Museum of History & Science.

The bike lane connects to the South Riverside Trail on the south side of the river and the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail on the north.

18th Street Trail is a short trail connecting the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail, Riverview Recreation Trail, and the 218 Trail.
